Bessaker is a village in Åfjord municipality in Trøndelag county. There are around 180 inhabitants, a kindergarten, a convenience store, an inn, a fitness center, an animal clinic, and a active association life.
Bessaker was previously a permanent port of call for Hurtigruten. The fishing festival is held every summer on the 3rd weekend in July. This has become the village’s great common lift and brings together thousands of people. It was first organized in 1979.
Bessaker is also known for fishing holidays, diving, the good hospitality and pure nature. The place is by the shipping lane facing the sea, but protected from the great sea by islands, islets and reefs. There are many opportunities for nature experiences!
In the summer of 2007 and 2008, Bessakerfjellet Wind Farm was built by Trønder Energi at Bessakerfjellet. The park has 25 wind turbines. At the top, “Møllestua” has become a popular hiking destination. It is open for everybody. The view from there a must do.
Fosen coastal harbor at Løaholmen, is a major business venture in Åfjord. In the sea area on one side there is deep water jetty, and on the other side a marina and small boat facilities in a sheltered pool. There is a pedestrian and bicycle path along the Fv15 from the junction at the center of Bessaker to Bjørgan.
